EVERYONE COULD AND SHOULD CROSSFIT

CrossFit is about FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT. That is, the movements we teach are all intended to improve your quality of life for years to come. CrossFit improves all aspects of your fitness rather than just focusing on a limited area of it. Because of this fact, the CrossFit methodology is a very efficient and safe method of improving your health and fitness when programmed and instructed well. CrossFit is:

HERE’S JUST ONE DEFINITION OF WHAT WORLD CLASS FITNESS MEANS

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

CARDIOVASCULARENDURANCE

The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.

STAMINA

The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.

STRENGTH

The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.

FLEXIBILITY

The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.

POWER

The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in min time.

SPEED

The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.

COORDINATION

The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.

AGILITY

The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.

BALANCE

The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base.

ACCURACY

The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

As CrossFitters you will be learning and applying the  fundamentals of gymnastics, weightlifting, and speed/agility/endurance to your practice. What we do has been described as General Physical Preparedness, a state of being ready for anything that life throws at you. We are great at everything, but masters at nothing.


SO WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT AS A BEGINNER?

First and foremost, WE WILL NEVER ask you to complete a movement that you are neither capable nor willing to complete safely and confidently

ALL MOVEMENTS ARE SCALABLE. That is, there is always another movement that we can substitute in place of what you see in a workout. We are looking to improve your skills, strengthen you, and encourage your development – not demoralize you.

CrossFit is suitable for ALL AGES. Functional movement, is not reserved for a specific age range.
